Same-Sex Marriage Licenses Halted in Boulder County

Tuesday's ruling from the Colorado Supreme Court directing Boulder County to cease issuing marriage licenses to same-sex couples is a deep disappointment for the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender people of our community but will not change Coloradans ultimate commitment to full marriage equality.  The one bright spot in Tuesday’s court proceedings is that the more than 200 marriage licenses granted by Hillary Hall, Boulder County Clerk, to same-gender loving couples remain valid.

Victory! Boulder Judge Rules in Favor of Marriage Equality

Marriage Licenses Continue to be Issued in Boulder County

Out Boulder has always been of the position that our families deserve to be recognized, honored and respected. Based upon last week's ruling from the 10th Circuit we now have that right. There is no substitute for marriage; civil unions fall short in giving couples and their families the full dignity and protection they need.

The situation continues to develop and as Hillary Hall, Boulder County Clerk and Recorder, stated yesterday after continuing to issue licenses to gay and lesbian couples in Boulder County, the ball is in the Attorney General's hands.
