I joined Out Boulder County as a board member committed to naming and dismantling the whiteness that governs queer spaces in our community. I came to lead a transformation -- not to help Out Boulder County be more inclusive of queer and trans people of color (QTPOC) -- but to center the lived experiences of QTPOC in our work. So far, I have been surprised and inspired by how the [predominantly white] leadership of our organization is committed to fostering difficult conversations about racism and whiteness.
The focus for this group will be to share discussion, thoughts, ideas, and musings on the media of the month. This is a drop-in group and regular attendance is not required. You are welcome to come as you are, whether or not you have read the piece up for discussion.
"Writing as an art form belongs to all people." - Pat Schneider
Like yoga or meditation, writing is an activity that is enhanced by community practice. The aim of this group is to nurture your unique voice through exploring creative prompts, sharing with others (if you wish) and receiving positive feedback.
Whether you write for a living or have never shared anything you've writtten before, if you are queer and want to dedicate some time to writing, this workshop is for you.
Everyone is welcome for this FREE event -- all ages and faiths. Bring your entire family for this special experience. There is no cost to attend.
