This training is for current volunteers and newcomers to Speaking Out! Join us for a conversation about sexuality and gender, practice your story to share in future panels, and get to know everyone else in the program. This training is AS CLOSE TO MANDATORY AS POSSIBLE for continuing with the Speaking Out program. We will hold another training in the late winter/early spring if you can't attend this session. If you can't make this training, please schedule a time to talk with Sara about alternatives.
Sara Connell, Out Boulder's Education and Services Manager received the inaugural Transformation Award from The GLBT Community Center of Colorado last night at their first ever Transgender Program Fundraiser, A Midsummer Night's Dream.
What we do: we come into a safe space to be creative and write. Express ourselves artistically and verbally. Create a community of people with self expression and interaction knowing that it is a safe and all inclusive space. If you have questions about the group, please contact Desi at email@example.com.
This annual tradition teaches LGBTQ and allied youth how to write, storyboard, film, edit, and produce their own films, all from scratch! Youth films are usually about some part of their experience as a queer teen or ally, but they don't have to be. We've had students make music videos, zombie films, experimental pieces, soundscapes, black and white films, and dozens more.
Check out some of last year's films by clicking the descriptions below!
The picture above was a rally in front of the Courthouse in Friday night! Thank you to so many of you who “came out”. The United States Supreme Court finally caught up with the reality of our lives and acknowledged that our relationships are steeped in love, centered in commitment and anchored in authentic partnerships. We've always been in committed loving relationships but never had the rights and responsibilities associated with marriage. It's a brand-new day!

BOULDER, CO. – On this historic date of June 26th the United States Supreme Court with a 5-4 decision in the Obergefell v. Hodges case ruled that same-sex marriage is a constitutional right that cannot be denied by any government in this country.
One of our very dedicated Speaking Out volunteers, Marie Sutherland passed away Sunday. She touched so many people through her work in our community. Read this article from the Boulder Weekly in March that truly captured Marie's essence, with her partner Gwen.
I write to you regarding the recent graduation ceremonies at Twin Peaks Charter Academy. It was reported in the Daily Camera and national news sources that a student at Twin Peaks, where you serve as Board Chair, was not allowed to give his valedictorian speech at graduation and denied public recognition of his academic honors solely on the basis of his sexual orientation, which was contextually indicated in his proposed speech.
