2024 Interns

Hello weary traveller! Marigold here—yes, like the colloquial term for a genus of flower known as tagetes. I am presently an intern at OBC coordinating three events for the 2024 spring semester. I primarily indulge in reading, analyzing films, and practicing vocals to perfect various tunes. Opera is a favourite music genre of mine, alongside waltzes, rap, heavy metal, and jazz. Outside that triumvirate of hobbies, I am extremely passionate about event coordination, writing, and botany—I hope that final interest's potency was evident by the name. Hello, my name is Jamie Galli, my pronouns are they/he, I am currently in my freshman year of high school, and go to the school Colorado Early Colleges, Fort Collins.

Sadly, I have not had any involvement with OBC because I did not have access to LGBTQ+ friendly areas until now.

I mostly wanted this internship because my best friend, Alice, recommended it to me. She told me all about the amazing things you guys do and I wanted to be a part of it. Although, there are other reasons I wanted this internship, too. One of them being that I haven’t had many places where I felt like I belonged, but with other people who understand me, I feel so much safer and happier. This is a great opportunity for me to understand myself better, and expand my knowledge of others. One other reason I wanted this is because I haven’t had much job experience and this place seems like the best way to start.

As I’ve said before, I don’t have much job experience, but I have volunteered to help sell products for friends and help set up events for them. I am also currently helping Alice with setting up a GSA in our school, seeing as it was shut down when our new principal arrived. I love writing and doing art, and I feel that those are good skills to have when helping spread word about events. Writing is my passion, it’s what fills my heart with joy and keeps me living. Art is the easiest way for me to express everything that’s going on inside my head. It helps me understand myself and others. This is what makes me, well, me.

Aniston is a multi instrumentalist, band manager and frontman who loves to spend time lifting, hanging out with their friends, skiing and backpacking. They currently attend Polaris expeditionary learning School "I've been there since 6th grade and Polaris made Middle School livable". They're in the graduating class of 2026. This internship caught their eye because they want to affect change in our society mainly due to the state of affairs with trans kids healthcare. If you can't see the change you are trying to make in the world you're probably not doing enough, with joining OBC Aniston hopes to inspire other queer youth to take action.

Alice (she/they) is a 9th-grade student at Colorado Early Colleges High School in Fort Collins. In the past, she has attended Out Boulder County youth groups, spoken at school board meetings, and volunteered at several pride events as well as other OBC events. She wanted to get this internship because of her passion for LGBTQ+ rights and desire to bring visibility and safe spaces to her area, also because of her connection to the Night of Noise, as it was one of the first LGBTQ+ events that she ever attended, and her desire to bring that to other queer youth. She previously had an internship with Out Boulder County where she helped to plan the 2022 queer youth dance. She enjoys giving back to the community, and she is passionate about filmmaking, photography, and jewelry making.
